The 70th Aviation Detachment was my first tour in the Army. I was a mechanic/Crew chief on U-6 Beave

rs. I started there mid-1968 until mid-1969. I remember that each month they would let a different Beaver mech serve as crew chief on a U-8 that was going to Ton Su. n Ute on a supply run for a change of pace. Any other Beaver mechs remember that? I would like to hear from other Beaver Mechanics/pilots/ anyone from the 70th from back then. I was real happy to discover this website.

I was in the original 7th Airlift Plt 1968 as a W1 and CW2 flying "H" models. Our Unit call sign at that time was "Snow White" mine was "Grumpy". Glad to see the web site. I have some pictures for it.

Will send them to the site if I get a e-mail back.

Hi Guys, I was never part of your unit However I was General Blacks PIO Photogapher in 68&69. I flew with you guys all the time. Anyone remember a huey pilot by the name of Mcnamara. {hope I recall the name right} He liked to buzz the village girls bathing in the river and play chicken with the Thai truck divers.

Great job, it's good to see this website. I was a new WO1 Pilot assigned to the 7th Avn Plt from January -December 1969. Looking at the pictures sure brings back a lot of good memories, hard to believe that it was 40 years ago when we were all kids.

Keep up the good work

I came across your 70th Aviation Site and the pictures bring back memories.

I was assigned to the 70th from Jan 1970 until Jan 1971 as a U-21, U-1 Otter

and U-6 beaver pilot.

I have a few pictures if I can find them.

Would like to get in touch with other who were there at that time.

Regards,

Nice work on your site. The pictures from Larry were very helpful. I was in the 270th Trans Det and arrived in early 1969, we used the hangar on the end of the runway. Left in April 1971.

Both the 70th and 270th seem to have a very low profile. Spec.5 Wayne Eusanio (Helicopter Maint).

Doing a bit of history on my father CW4 Joe R. Boswell who had been assigned to the 70 AVN in 70-71. Came across this site and wanted to look it over. If anyone out had contact with my father during that time, please drop me a note at the email address above.

Thanks much for this site.

Great to see this website for the 70th Avation Det. I have many memories of the 70th, along with many photos. I was in the 528th Engr Det. We had the other half of the Barricks. Bill Owens and I were with B CO Special Troops at Ft Lenard Wood, MO. We spend many off duty hours together there. I'll upload as many photos of the 70th. I worked on the HHD building and Hanger at Korat Royal Air Force Base.

Hello,I am trying to help a friend that was a member of the 70th Avn. All of his paperwork was lost. He has no way to support a VA claim. His name is Buddy Cater, from Alabama.Any orders or other with his name would be a asset.

Steve;

Congratulations on getting the site up and running. With your permission, I will add a link to the website on the Jackscorner website for all of 9th Log and USARSUPTHAI members. I can well remember my first few weeks of trying to learn the ins and outs of posting items on a website. It's a true learning experience. Again, I send my congratulations.

Steve, Larry, Jack, Buddy I sure do thank you for making this happen. As I mentioned before I lost my albums with all my hold baggage and I am looking for what I have left here at the house. These are beautiful pictures and wonderful memories of our teeanage years. Hope this makes sense.SFC Hector Casillas (US Army Retired)
